According to various sources, a deal that was supposed to take place between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks in order to send Kristaps Porzingis to Boston has reportedly been scrapped.

In the proposed trade, the Celtics were supposed to provide the Mavericks with Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, and a first-round pick in return for Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. However, the trade did not go through because the Mavericks apparently got a higher offer from the Washington Wizards, which caused them to reject the deal.

It was claimed that the Wizards made an offer to the Mavericks to trade Porzingis in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans, and a protected first-round choice. In the end, the Mavericks came to the conclusion that the offer made by the Wizards was superior in meeting the requirements that were placed on their club.

According to reports, the Celtics were dissatisfied that the deal did not go through since they had been trying to acquire Porzingis in order to strengthen their frontcourt.

The Celtics, on the other hand, have a number of potential trade alternatives open to them, and it is anticipated that they will be active in the market for trades during this summer.

The Celtics have suffered a blow as a result of the breakdown of the deal for Kristaps Porzingis, but this does not imply that they are eliminated from contention for a title.

The Celtics have maintained a solid core of players, which includes Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart, among others. This summer, it is anticipated that they will be one of the more active clubs in the pursuit of free agents.

If the Celtics want to contend for a title in the next season, they will need to make some roster adjustments. However, they still have the capability of being a very strong team, and they will be a formidable adversary in the Eastern Conference if they play up to their potential.
